Greater Midland Opens Summer Camp Registration with Discount Day Quickly Approaching

Friday, March 10, 2023

Registration has officially opened for 2023 Greater Midland Summer Camps. After a record-breaking 2022 summer, roughly 4,700 campers participated in 200+ camp offerings and graced the grounds of the Greater Midland facilities. Another big year is projected. While most campers are local to the Great Lakes Bay Region, some children travel quite far for their quality camps. From June through August, families look to Greater Midland to provide quality care in a safe environment for their children, as well as promote positive self-esteem, a catalyst for new friendships, and create lifelong memories.

Summer Camps kick off on June 5 and wrap up on August 18, just in time for school. Campers ages 2 to 15 have opportunities to bake, swim, create art, play sports, experience adventure, try something new, meet new friends and develop new interests. Many hands-on experiences with passionate counselors, or as Greater Midland calls them, ‘professional role models’, prioritizing safety, fun and learning with all participants.

Greater Midland is bringing back the very popular “Early Bird Discount Day” on Wednesday, March 8 to help meet the community’s needs and offer a financial incentive for early registration. Signing up on March 8 will save $10 per camp at the Community Center or Tennis Center. The Early Bird Discount is available online at greatermidland.org/camps and in person at the Community Center and Tennis Center.

“The Greater Midland Summer Camp experience is of course, about providing fun and adventure to our campers, but there’s so much positive impact happening beneath the surface,” says Jenny Roan, Greater Midland Summer Camp Director. “Campers find new things they are interested in exploring further, which help grow their sense of self. They create new friendships with kids from different schools, and the counselors do as well and gain positive leadership practice. The campers add so much laughter and life into the Centers, so we are very excited for them to get started in June.”

A Greater Midland Summer Camp sampler is coming up at the Greater Midland Community Center on Sunday, March 5, from 3pm to 5pm. Summer camps to sample including gymnastics, sports, art, baking and more. The Summer Camp Sampler Family Fun Day is free for members of Greater Midland and $6 for non-members.

If your child is too old to participate this year in camps or if you know of anyone looking for a great part-time job, Greater Midland is also looking for ‘Professional Role Models’. Perks include making lasting impressions on area youth, having fun, working outdoors, and leaving nights and weekends open to still have a summer break. To apply to be a Professional Role Model, visit greatermidland.org/jobs.
