Junior Development is built as a foundation of progressions. There are several levels in our program, each offering a more challenging set of skills, so as the child masters one level, they progress to the next.

Red Ball

Build a foundation of fitness, coordination, and fun—on and off the court!

Red Ball is Greater Midland Tennis Center’s youth athlete development program. Classes will teach basic tennis skills like forehands, backhands, and volleys. More importantly, they aim to develop core athletic abilities such as agility, balance, coordination, and sending and receiving skills. These classes are an excellent starting point for building foundational athletic skills that can translate to any sport as youth athletes grow older.

Preschool (ages 3-4)
Kindergarten (Ages 5-6)
Grades 1-2 (ages 6-8)

Orange Ball (Ages 8-12)

Tennis designed to fit your child’s game and growth!

Orange Ball is for players 8-12 years old and welcomes all skill levels. The class begins to focus more specifically on the game of tennis. It aims to teach tennis rallying skills, with a secondary emphasis on learning to compete. Players will be introduced to tennis footwork and more advanced technical skills. The class will be structured around live ball activities and fun tennis-specific games.

High School Academy

New to the game or leveling up? We’ve got the perfect class for your teen!

Designed for developing players, this class sharpens technique, improves control, and builds tactical skills for both singles and doubles play.

 

High School Academy Level 1 (Ages 11-14)

Ideal for teenagers new to tennis or players with limited formal instruction. The class focuses on tennis fundamentals, stroke development, point construction, and basic skills like keeping score. It aims to help players quickly learn and improve their tennis abilities in a fun, game-based environment. The Middle School/High School Team Practice is a valuable addition for those wanting more match play and training.

HSA L1 Registration

High School Academy Level 2 (Ages )

Designed for players who participate on their high school varsity tennis team. It helps players stay sharp, strong, and prepared for their next season. By combining technical drills and structured point play, players enhance their singles and doubles skills while building confidence and consistency. The Middle School/High School Team Practice is a great addition if players want to add more match play and training.

HSA L2 is available to advanced middle school-age players with coach approval.

Team Training

Get ready for your next season! Our Team Training is designed to simulate a real team environment, one coach, many players, and high-energy drills focused on teamwork, consistency, and competitive play. This is the perfect way to stay sharp in the off-season and keep improving alongside other motivated players.

Performance Pathway

Orange Ball Elite (Ages 8–11) – Director Approval

Players have demonstrated solid fundamentals and are ready for competition. Training increases to 4–6 hours per week, including private lessons. Prepping for tournament play.

Satellite Academy – Director Approval

Players train on a full 78' court with a focus on technique, tactics, and movement. Emphasis on scoring, singles vs. doubles strategy, and decision-making. Designed for serious players.

Tournament Academy – Director Approval

Focus on developing game style, tactical adjustments under pressure, and pattern play. Players are expected to demonstrate discipline, sportsmanship, emotional control, and a winning mindset as program demands increase.
