Greater Midland’s North Family Center to Host ANNUAL Free Prom Dress Event

MIDLAND, MI – Greater Midland’s popular “Share the Memories” event is back March 23 through March 25, where thousands of free dresses are waiting for their chance to sparkle out on the dance floor. This event takes place at Greater Midland North Family Center and invites all young ladies in the Great Lakes Bay Region (and beyond) still searching for a prom or special occasion dress to attend.

Share the Memories started in 2009 and is a beautiful giveback program from Greater Midland that is all made possible thanks to the generosity and donations received from the community. The collection of gently worn and brand-new dresses has grown into the thousands and is one of the few places in the state where you can find almost any color, style, length, and size of dress. The goal of Share the Memories is for everyone to find their perfect dress without the pressures of a financial limit. It also helps reduce the growing problem of clothing waste by having beautiful and expensive dresses worn for more than one event. Everyone is welcome to attend, and all dresses are free of charge. No proof of income or residency is needed, but appointments are required based on space and changing rooms available.

Beautiful plus-sized dresses waiting to find homes.

This event takes place at Greater Midland North Family Center on Thursday, March 23 and Friday, March 24, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday, March 25 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Appointments are required to browse the selection.

“Sometimes, the dress can be the costliest portion of the prom experience,” said Georgia Pelli, Director of Operations at the Greater Midland North Family Center. “I love removing that barrier for young ladies and their families so they can focus on having a good time while feeling beautiful. Ultimately, I know that this event creates memories that last a lifetime. Last year, we had young adults walk away empty handed due to the shortage of plus-sized dresses. We have amazing donors that went out and specifically hunted for these popular sizes to donate this year. We are thrilled with adding hundreds of dresses to our collection. Now all we need is for them to find homes.”
