When the community of Midland sets its mind to accomplish something, it’s usually successful. That’s why organizers of an upcoming world record setting attempt are optimistic about the opportunity.

“This community rallies together like none other that I’ve experienced. We witnessed it happen back in 2009 when Midland was selected as Best Tennis Town in the US. And we know we can break one of the world records on October 24,” said Adam Salgat, senior marketing manager at Greater Midland and one of the event’s organizers.

On Saturday, October 24 at noon, Greater Midland will play host to an event at Plymouth Park to attempt to shatter the world records for the most number of people doing lunges, pushups, burpees, sit ups and planks.

“Encourage your friends, family, neighbors or even that friendly stranger to join us to be part of this monumental event. A community together lasts forever,” Salgat said.

Organizers also note that you need not be athletic to participate. “The record is for the largest group of people performing the exercise together. So you won’t have to perform hundreds of reps,” Salgat added.
