NEW USTA NEMTA DISTRICT LEAGUE COORDINATOR

The USTA of Northeast Michigan has appointed Chris Berger to be the new District League and Junior Team Tennis Coordinator for the region. The Tennis Center is looking forward to working with Chris to set up some exciting new USTA Leagues in 2017.

A very active member of the Greater Midland Tennis Center, you may already recognize Chris Berger from his participation in USTA leagues, Permanent Courts, and most recently, for taking home the trophy for 8.0 Men’s Doubles in The Midland Smoker this November!

Chris is a native of Midland, MI, and started playing high school tennis for Bullock Creek High School his sophomore year. Chris went on to attend Saginaw Valley State University where he was president of the SVSU Tennis Club for 4.5 years. During his tenure as tennis club president, the team became a member of the USTA Tennis on Campus League and traveled to Madison, WI, for multiple regional tournaments. The team also went to Arizona for Spring Invitationals. Chris has spent the last four years coaching the Girl’s Varsity High School Tennis team at Bullock Creek.

An avid fan of all things related to tennis, Chris is looking forward to meeting new players and promoting his favorite sport in the Greater Midland Area! Chris is hoping to really increase participation in USTA leagues this year. If you see Chris around the Tennis Center be sure to congratulate him on his new appointment!
