Tennis Center Announces New Executive Director

We are pleased to introduce Scott Mitchell as the new executive director for the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

Scott was selected after an extensive international search that included nearly 50 applicants from several US states and multiple countries. “His comprehensive tennis knowledge, experience with local and national tournaments, along with his ability to recruit high quality tennis pros makes Scott well suited for this position,” said Chris Tointon, Greater Midland CEO.  “Scott is an accomplished athlete and leader. We are looking forward to having him join our team.”

Scott will be moving from Savannah, Georgia where he served as Director of Tennis and Court Sports at The Landings Club - the largest residential clay court facility in the US. In addition, he bring experience as the director for the St. Joseph's/Candler Savannah Challenger, a USTA Pro Circuit tournament. While at The Landings, Scott increased lessons by 65% in four years, improved member satisfaction and boosted adult and junior program participation to the highest levels in seven years. In 2015, the club was selected as the Best Tennis Community by Real Estate Scorecard. 

Scott has held positions as a USPTA Regional Vice-President and served as a faculty member for USTA Coach Youth Tennis. He holds Elite status with the USPTA and has achieved the highest level rating (5A) with the Professional Tennis Registry. He is also certified as a National Tester and Clinician.

Scott earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Marketing and Management from Indiana University.

He will be moving to Midland with his wife, Ashley and three children.

Scott’s first day with Greater Midland will be October 1.
