Team Challenges at Dow Weekend of Races

Midland, MI – The 30th Annual Dow RunWalk will be hitting the city streets on May 16 and we are looking for 30 teams to take the RunWalk Challenge!

The challenge is a fun, spirit-filled competition designed for runners, walkers and volunteers to join together in the race experience. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for co-workers, friends, civic organizations, families, youth groups, churches, and more to get a team together and participate or volunteer in the Dow RunWalk,” said Jennifer Adamcik, race director. “Teams should have as much fun with it as possible by designing unique shirts and other gear that sets them apart from other participants.”

Teams need a minimum of six participants. To participate in the RunWalk Challenge, participants should organize a group, develop a team name, take a team photo and register for the RunWalk. All challenge participants must submit their registrations together as a team by May 1. Teams do receive a $2 discount for each registration. Members of challenge teams can participate in the 10K, 5K Run, 5K Walk, 1 Mile Run or as a volunteer.

RunWalk Challenge Champions will be announced on Tuesday, May 19. Winners will receive a recognition award and prizes.

For runners who have always wanted to participate in a marathon but aren’t quite ready to go the entire distance on their own, we have a second team opportunity during the Great Lakes Bay Marathon Relay, Sunday May 17.  The Marathon Relay consists of five separate legs run by up to a five person team with two team members running a 4 mile leg and three team members run a 6 mile leg.  All five team members finish the last 0.2 mile leg together as they cross the finish inside Dow Diamond.

To participate in either team opportunity, runners can register online at www.greatermidland.org/races
