On Saturday, December 10, 2012, the Railway Family Center welcomed over 200 people to their first annual Holiday Chili Dinner.

Highlights from the event included performances from the 3-year-old preschool class, a visit from Santa Claus, crafts for kids, and a craft show with 20 vendors.

“It was a great event,” said Bridget Sullivan, Executive Director.  “I was so pleased with the turnout and involvement from the community.”

Spearheaded by the Railway Family Center board of volunteers and staff members, the Holiday Chili Dinner was supported by the Dow Chemical Foundation, J. Ranck Electric, Inc., Tigner Printing, and the H Hotel.

“Our board, staff, and donors really made this possible,” Sullivan said. “Funds raised will help support our family services programs – food pantry, clothing pantry, utility assistance, and more – which are needed programs in this community.”

In keeping with the Railway Family Center’s values of serving and generosity, all leftover food from the event was donated to The Open Door Ministries.

Railway Family Center would like to extend special thanks to its dedicated board members, strong staff team, the 30 event volunteers who made the Holiday Chili Dinner possible, and Deb Long, Railway Family Center employee who led the charge in the kitchen and provided fantastic food!
