Evening Kayak Trip

Enjoy a fun-filled and relaxing evening on the Chippewa River. During a two-hour trip, you will enjoy breathtaking views and experience nature right in our community.

For all kayak trips, please arrive at the Chippewa Nature Center at 5:30 p.m. We will carpool to the launch site, and be floating by 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $36 each trip  |  Includes kayak, paddle, life jacket, snacks and a water

Come experience the rich Dutch culture of the Holland Tulip Festival. This is the perfect trip to welcome in spring with views of beautiful tulips throughout Holland. 

This is a walking trip and it includes:

  • Dutch Brunch & Show: Featuring Ah! Men, a group of Dutch singers, a ticket into Veldheer’s Tulip Farm where you will experience fields of tulips, and entrance into Windmill Island Garden.
  • Snacks, games, and prizes on the bus (Prizes donated by Bayside Home Care)

Pre-Season Garden Meeting

The Greater Midland Community Center welcomes gardeners both new and experienced to apply for a plot this growing season. Full and half plots are available. For those whose mobility may be impaired, we offer four raised beds, two at 4’ high and two at 3’ high. The soil will be ready for planting with water and tools available. Must fill out an application.

  • Full plot, 20x20’ for $20
  • Half plot, 10x20’ for $10
  • Raised Bed plot $15

Anyone interested in gardening is encouraged to attend.

Michigan’s Oldest Prison - Historic Tours

Take a trip to Jackson to experience the very first Michigan Prison, The Jackson State Prison. This prison was built in 1839 and is full of very intriguing prison history. Come experience several prison blocks where prisoners were once housed. 

This is a walking trip and it will include:

  • A guided tour of Michigan's 1st prison and a guided tour in Cellblock 7; which was the largest walled institute in the world.
  • Lunch, snacks, games, and prizes. (Prizes donated by Bayside Home Care)
